The Global Mobility Professional Development (GMPD) programme has been developed with simplicity in mind, making it easy to use and to log the learning you do as part of your day job. We do realise that you may have questions, especially if you are new to, or thinking of registering to take part, and the most frequently asked questions are laid out below.
What is MyGMPD?
MyGMPD is a professional development programme for people working in the Global Mobility industry. Through MyGMPD you can improve your skills and Global Mobility knowledge to gain recognition as a dedicated Global Mobility professional
Who should take part in MyGMPD?
MyGMPD is relevant to you whether you work in-house or as a Global Mobility supplier. From new starters in Global Mobility to seasoned professionals, you will find learning content which is relevant throughout your career to keep you abreast of the latest thinking, techniques and trends
How will I be notified that my registration has been approved?
You will be sent an auto-generated email by the MyGMPD system – keep a look out for this as we have heard that some are being sent straight to Spam/Junk folders and therefore could be missed. Please white-list the email address/add it to your trusted senders if it arrives this way to be sure you don’t miss out on any communications from us. Your Learning Coach will be in tourch shortly afterwareds to formally welcome you to the programme and explain what happens next
How do I find suitable activities and learning content?
MyGMPD has been developed with simplicity in mind. At various locations on the MyGMPD website you will find search facilities where you can search by keyword, activity type or learning provider. You can also search by the number of points you want to earn
How do I earn MyGMPD points?
You must earn 40 GMPD points in a single 12-month cycle to earn or maintain GMPD accreditation. The number of points available for each piece of learning content is clearly indicated.
Once you have completed an activity, make sure you log your learning by using the MyLog tab at the top of every page. You may be selected to provide evidence of completion of a task. If selected, your Learning Coach will be in touch. If not, the associated points earned will be added to your total and included in your individual MyGMPD record within two working days. This will be shown on your MyGMPD page
Why do I need to submit a form for each activity I complete?
Reflecting on what you know and what you have learnt is a valuable way to consider how your skills and knowledge can be maintained or built on. By writing these short statements you are being encouraged to think about what you have learnt, why, and how it may change your practice in the future. Your Learning Coach will use the information you provide to help and advise you on future learning content
What should my Learning Log look like?
It is important that you record the title of the learning completed and the date so that your points can be correctly recorded. In addition, the fields for ‘What have you learnt from this activity?’ and ‘How will you improve as a result of this activity?’ should include between 50 and 200 words on how your skills and knowledge have improved or developed as a result of this learning activity, and how your practice will change as a result of what you have learnt. An example of a good Learning Log following an event can be seen here
How do I find out how many GMPD points I have earned?
Click on MyGMPD at the top of every page when logged in and you will find an up-to-date record of the number of GMPD points you have earned. You’ll also be able to view and download your current individual GMPD record
How can I incorporate MyGMPD into my Personal Development Plan (PDP)?
In order to make your targets ‘SMART’ a couple of suggestions would be:
- Discuss and agree a realistic time-frame within which you aim to become GMPD accredited – you may want to stay with one year or challenge yourself to become accredited sooner
- Target yourself to become a ‘team champion’ on a specific GM topic i.e. Immigration and become the ‘go to’ person
- Present to the team on a monthly or quarterly basis key trends that you have identified around your chosen topic
- Challenge yourself to learn about another GM topic that you may find challenging in order to develop yourself further i.e. tax
- Track conversations and/or situations within the business where you have applied your knowledge (based on the above) and demonstrated understanding to internal customers
How do I use my post-nominals?
It’s as simple as adding the letters GMPD after your name e.g. Fred Bloggs GMPD
How long can I use my GMPD post-nominals for once I’ve earned them?
Each MyGMPD cycle runs for 12 months. Once you have earned 40 points (in a single MyGMPD cycle) you will become GMPD accredited and entitled to use the post-nominals GMPD after your name in all of your business communications. You may then use these post-nominals for the remainder of the cycle in which the 40 points were earned, and for a further 12 months. You will need to complete another 40 points during that second 12 month cycle in order to maintain permission for use of your GMPD post-nominals. At the end of that cycle, should you fall short of the 40 points required, your Learning Coach will be in contact to advise you are no longer GMPD accredited.
My registration with MyGMPD comes through my employer, what happens if I leave the company?
If you leave the company which is paying for your registration with MyGMPD, your GMPD membership and the GMPD points you have accrued may be frozen. Get in Touch with us to discuss your options
How much does MyGMPD cost?
There is a standard investment of £950.00+VAT for access to the MyGMPD programme. If you have an eligible discount code make sure you enter this at registration as your membership fee may be reduced
